Job Description:

Our client is an MIT spinout pursuing the fastest, surest way to clean limitless fusion energy.  The company is seeking an electrical engineer to build a new manufacturing line for state-of-the-art high-field superconducting magnets. The electrical engineer will have full ownership over the development, procurement, and installation of automated equipment for this production line.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own creation of the automated production line for HTS magnets from initial conceptual development to fabrication/procurement of equipment to commissioning the line for production
  • Research, develop specifications, and procure custom automation equipment
  • Work with vendors to design/modify custom equipment, install on the manufacturing line, and commission for production within specified timelines and budgets
  • Program and troubleshoot automated equipment, including PLC (programmable logic controller) and HMI (human machine interaction) programming
  • Set up processes and systems to ensure equipment reliability, including setting up preventative maintenance plans and performing root cause analysis

 The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field is required
  • 3+ years' experience as an equipment, automation controls, and/or manufacturing engineer
  • Project management experience working with external vendors on equipment procurement and installation
  • Automation and controls experience, including PLC (programmable logic controller) and HMI (human machine interaction) programming. Python experience is a plus
  • High self-motivation and drive to execute quickly with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with rotating machinery, cable winding, and/or pipe bending preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD for tooling design is preferred (SolidEdge & Teamcenter is a plus)
