FIB-SEM and TEM Product Specialist

Job Description:

The “Product Specialist” is responsible for providing technical presentations, discussions and technical support to existing and potential FIB-SEM and TEM customers, as well as the internal sales and marketing organization, to enable the company to meet customer’s needs and to achieve sales plans.  Smooth and interactive communication with customers, factory engineers, and vendors to ensure effective support of the company’s product lines is critical. The primary product is FIB-SEM and secondarily TEM.  Primary applications field is the failure analysis (FA) of semiconductor devices using FIB-SEM and TEM. So strong technical background in semiconductor FA using FIB-SEM and TEM is mandatory.   

Specific responsibilities will include performing instrument demonstrations, customer training, applications support, authoring technical paper, pre/post-sales support, technical seminars and developing related applications. Strong experience in project management especially in developing new products, technical functions or applications though collaborations with customer is a plus. The Product Specialist will work closely with Applications Group and Product Marketing Management on defining applications for product strategies and roadmaps for FIB-SEM and TEM product lines.  The Product Specialist will communicate and work with the sales team to promote and demonstrate products to potential customers.  Must attend and participate in conferences, exhibitions, and industry shows.  Domestic traveling is required with some international travel.

Strong English language communication skills and demonstrated FIB-SEM and TEM acumen are required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver compelling product presentations;{E}
  • Provide sample run activities and product demonstrations to customers; {E}
  • Conduct technical product training on instruments and applications for customers and  internal staff; {E} 
  • Understand customer’s technical requirement through applications support and provide technical solutions; {E}
  • Develop application notes (marketing collateral) for the appropriate product line;{E}
  • Generate technical data for advertising, proof statements, journal publications and other types of documentation;{E}
  • Review and edit marketing documents and other written documents/reports for technical accuracy;{E}
  • Provide sales staff with technical information in order to help them respond to customer issues and question;{E}
  • Analyze customer samples for sales opportunities and technical support;{E}
  • Assist internal staff and customers with technical support and application issues;{E}
  • Review customer application needs with sales staff;{E}
  • Serve in a technical support role during sales calls;{E}
  • Resolving technical product line issues and problems;{E}
  • Key account technical management;{E}
  • Provide technical requirements to the factory for continued and next generation product development; {E}

Education, Licenses and/or Certification Requirements:

  • Required Doctorates of Science / Doctorates of Arts in Biology, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field;{NE}
  • Masters/Graduate Degree in related field preferred. {E}

Experience and Travel Requirements:

  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in related materials science applications or semiconductor FA applications;{E}
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience working with FIB-SEM and TEM instrumentation;{E}
  • Experience Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Focused Ion Beam (FIB) is strongly preferred;{E}
  • Experience in programming specifically scripting languages or C, C++ is an advantage.
  • Domestic and International Travel estimated at 30%. {E}
