Principal Software Engineer

Our client is a world leader in vision systems. Their products are used to help manufacture, inspect, and track products in a broad variety of industries where speeds of hundreds to thousands of images per second are needed to produce 24/7 reliability.

At this time, one of the business units is seeking a talented, innovative software engineer who has a passion for programming to join its software development team. This engineer will tackle challenging, complex machine vision problems and be responsible for the design and implementation of the next generation of embedded systems and technologies upon which the Company's products our built.

Essential Functions:

• Design and develop applications and system software running on an embedded DSP platform or custom-designed ASIC.
• Participate in the design, development, improvement, and/or support of machine-vision algorithms for analyzing acquired images.
• Profile and optimize system software to achieve high-performance solutions.
• Resolve / troubleshoot difficult hardware/software compatibility problems.
• Participate in team planning, design discussions, and reviews.
• Develop tools, applications, demos, etc. to support deployment, development, and testing.
• Work with a development team consisting of other software, hardware, and mechanical engineers, and interface to other Company business units to capture specifications for real-world machine ion opportunities.


Qualifications:   

• BS/MS in Math, Computer Science or Engineering.
• 8+ years of professional experience in C++ programming and assembly.
• Be undaunted by challenging problems.
• Strong multithreaded programming and interrupt handling skills.
• Well-versed in computer architectures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Machine Vision / Image Processing algorithms is a plus.
• Experience with C# and .NET programming is a plus.
