Our client, a world leader in specialty chemicals and materials, has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Research Engineer within its Electronic Materials, Optical and Ceramic Technologies Group. This group is responsible for the development of advanced infrared optical materials for the defense and commercial optics industry and advanced semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities:
Develop new products and processes to grow the busines.
Provide engineering services to the R&D group.
Work with R&D Scientists and Engineers to support projects by designing tooling and equipment required for R&D chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes.
Prepare drawings and specifications.
Prepare and maintain operating procedures and work instructions.
Prepare and participate in EHS/Process Hazard reviews and maintain and operate CVD processes and equipment.
Design experiments and analyze data.
Work with internal and external analytical groups to determine best analytical techniques and methods to evaluate experimental results and material properties.
Work with suppliers to develop specifications and requirements in support of R&D projects.
Provide engineering support to Sales and Quality groups to resolve customer technical issues.
Work with Manufacturing and Engineering groups to improve CVD processes to increase product yield and product quality.
Qualifications:
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering with 3-8 years of experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of CVD technology, vacuum technology, material science and characterization, ceramics, instrument control and automation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, CFD, LabView, Six Sigma, and Statistical Methodology.
