Product Manager reports to Senior Director Marketing and manages all company’s products. This position requires an intimate knowledge of all aspects of the product (technical and non-technical) and a clear focus on ensuring the company maintains a high quality, competitive product portfolio.
The successful candidate must have a clear understanding of target markets, customer needs and the company’s value proposition, a good understanding of sales, regulatory and certification compliance, quality standards, manufacturing capabilities and technology developments, close coordination with all the key functions of the company – sales, quality, manufacturing and technology.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance and development of a competitive product portfolio including products and features which support the company’s value proposition.
Detailed product definition and specifications, including marketing requirements and business cases for new or modified products (and/or associated services).
Ownership of the company-wide product road map, integrating the needs of Marketing, Sales, Operations and R&D.
The marketing lead on cross-functional teams for any form-fit-function product design changes or new product developments.
All customer-facing product documentation including content generation, input briefs, proof approval and publication.
Product promotion and communication activities in support of Marketing and Sales, including market launch of new products or communication of product changes to the field.
Updating trade literature and marketing databases with latest product information.
Competitive product intelligence, benchmarking and testing.
Focal point for all customer inquiries on product issues, daily support to key account managers on product specific issues.
Qualifications:
BS degree or similar level qualification in marketing or product management.
At least 2 years professional marketing experience.
Solid technical understanding not essential, but preferred.
Track record in successfully managing a product portfolio and effecting product changes.
Experience in the solar (or power) industry helpful but not essential.
English language skills essential, German or other European languages skills helpful.
Proficiency in latest Microsoft Office software, Salesforce.com or equivalent CRM system, SAP.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willing to travel on behalf of the company.
