Our client seeks a General Manager who will assume P&L responsibility for its successful and rapidly growing interconnect & micromachining business unit. This position has direct responsibility for marketing, applications and engineering functions for a business unit which represents 40% of the company’s revenue with products sold into LED, PCB, semiconductor and electronics. This business is global in nature and represents significant future growth opportunities for the company.
Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for operating a profitable, fast-growing business unit with P&L responsibility.
Provide an atmosphere that invites and supports team spirit, cooperation, and opportunities for employee growth.
Play the lead role in voice of the customer visits to collect data for current and future product development activities.
Jointly (with Sales team) develop and execute sales strategies to achieve market share and gross margin objectives.
Responsible for product development, product introduction and road mapping, product marketing, applications development and support, product and process demonstrations, global product management, business unit operations and cost management.
Jointly (with Customer Operations) responsible for customer support and satisfaction, provide field performance (reliability, productivity, spec compliance, etc.).
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have advanced degrees in physics, materials science, optics, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering from a well-recognized school. An MBA is preferred.
A successful, technically sound business executive with P&L experience, 15-plus years of demonstrated experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility leading, managing and growing technical businesses.
The ideal candidate has spent most of his/her career in the semiconductor equipment or related industry with a sound grasp of materials, lasers and automated systems.
Experience managing a P&L, early experience in technical roles where he/she can point to signature accomplishments, and recent executive level experience growing a profitable business centered upon leading edge technology. He/she will have a creative “think outside the box” approach with a collaborative style and a customer focus.
